Sekatsky Illustrations by Vladimir Shinkarev Vladimir Shinkarev is a St. Petersburg artist and writer, author of Maxim and Fedor, one of the most famous works of samizdat of the 1970s and 1980s. In addition to the cult story that gave the title to this edition, the book includes no less famous works by the same author: "Mitki", "Papuas from Honduras", the conceptual literary and artistic project "World Literature", the fairy tale "The Domestic Hedgehog", the cautionary tale "The King of Beasts", as well as poems, songs and fables. Sixteen illustrations for "Maxim and Fedor" were created especially for this edition. In addition to them, the book includes previously published illustrations for all texts, reproductions of paintings and graphic works by V. Shinkarev, and photographic materials from the author's archive. In the section of appendices there is an afterword and comments to "Maxim and Fedor" written by Alexander Sekatsky, as well as an illustrated bibliography of V. Shinkarev's books. ABOUT THE ARTIST Vladimir Shinkarev was born in 1954 in Leningrad. From 1974 to 1977 he studied at courses at the Leningrad Higher Art-Industrial School named after V. I. Mukhina. V. I. Mukhina and the Repin Institute of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture. In 1977 he graduated from the Geology Department of the A. A. Zhdanov Leningrad State University.
