Year of publication: 2013 ISBN: 978-5-93898-430-1 Pages: 624 Illustrations: 100 Print run: 1100 copies. ABOUT THE BOOK Articles by Y. A. Rostovtsev and O. Y. Mikhailov Biographical chronicle and bibliography by Y. A. Rostovtsev Illustrations by Oleg Mikhailov Narrative in the stories "Tsar-fish" - one of the most significant works of V. P. Astafiev. P. Astafiev (1924-2001). In the center of the narrative - people of complex fate, living in struggle with the harsh nature, the ruinous destruction of nature by man and the reciprocal destruction of the human personality. Going through the publications of "Kingfish" was agonizing for the author, as the text was subjected to the harshest censorship. Up until the 1990s, the book was repeatedly published, and even in this distorted form earned the love of readers. In 1978, "The Kingfish" was awarded the State Prize for Literature and Art. This edition publishes the last lifetime version of the book without censorship exceptions. The illustrations were created by the St. Petersburg artist Oleg Mikhailov by order of the publishing house "Vita Nova". Artistic interpretation of Astafiev's text was so convincing, among other things, because the illustrator reflected in his works his impressions from his trips to Siberia, Astafiev's homeland. ABOUT THE ARTIST Oleg Yurievich MIKHAILOV was born in 1981 in Leningrad. Graduated from the St. Petersburg Academic Art Lyceum named after B. V. Ioganson. Graduated from the St. Petersburg State Academic Institute of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture named after I.E. Repin (where he also completed his postgraduate studies in 2007).
