Description

"Rebels Resurgent": Volume 13 of 27 of Time-Life Series "The Civil War". Published in 1985. "The Civil War" is a book series that chronicles the events of the American Civil war, 1861-1865, in great detail including many photographs, maps and illustrations. Published by Time-Life books between 1983 and 1987. Each book focused on a different topic specific for the era, such as brother against brother, the forts, multiple campaigns, the generals, life of the soldiers and politics of the day. Each volume is 176 pages long, featuring many contemporary pictures, maps and illustrations. They are bound in a patented silver imitation leather hardcover binding with the series name, title of the book and publisher imprinted in gold on the spine of the book. The front cover of the book has a glued-on oval shaped picture. Above the picture is embossings of emblems of both sides. Beneath the picture is embossed in the faux leather is a set of cannons, swords and a mound of cannon balls. The back cover is imprinted with the ISBN code. "Rebels Resurgent: Fredericksburg to Chancellorsville": Comprehensive overview of these two campaigns with photographs, illustrations, and maps. Covers the critical turning points; the period when Lee's army of Northern Virginia was at its best, not only defeating the army of the Potomac, but literally fighting circles around them despite being at an extreme numerical disadvantage. Mr Lincoln on the other hand, is facing his biggest challenge of the war: finding a commanding general in the East that would not only take the fight to the enemy, but do it in a competent manner. The casualties were high, and the results and morale were low. Very good overall condition. (See pictures) Exterior: Very good: very minor wear on spine due to removal of library label. Interior: Excellent; No wear or marks other than Title page which has library stamp. Inside covers: (front) some non-sticky residue. (Back) Damage due to incomplete removal of library card pocket.
