Year of publication: 2012 ISBN: 978-5-93898-373-1 Pages: 288 Illustrations: 22 Print run: 900 copies. ABOUT THE BOOK Translated from the Italian by Y. E. Moiseenko Comments A. О. Demina, Yu E. Moiseenko Illustrations by Paul-Emile Beck "Divine Aretino" - this is what contemporaries called the great Italian poet, writer, playwright and publicist of the Renaissance Pietro Aretino (1492-1556). This edition is the first in Russia to publish his book "Dialogues" (1536), a continuation of the famous "Discourses" (1534), a daring erotic satire on modern mores, which became scandalous and was included for obscenity in the list of forbidden publications by the Vatican. But it was these books that brought Aretino European fame and became recognized classics of world literature. This edition is accompanied by extensive commentary. For the first time in Russia, the book reproduces a series of illustrations to the Dialogues, created by the outstanding French artist P.-E. Beck for the Brussels edition of 1944. ABOUT THE ARTIST French painter, engraver and draftsman Paul-Emile Beca was born in Paris on February 2, 1885. He studied at the Paris School of Fine Arts with painters Gabriel Ferrier and François Flamen. In 1913, he first participated in the Salon of French artists, and in 1920, he received for his paintings Grand Prix de Rome - a scholarship of the French Academy, allowing you to improve their skills in Italy. Beck's works were characterized by confident academic drawing, accuracy in the transfer of details and some "salon".
