Richard Nixon, who lived from 1913--1990, was President of the U.S., 1969-1974. Nixon was born in California, educated at Whittier College and Duke University Law School. He was elected to the U.S. House of Representative and the U.S. Senate and served as Vice President under Dwight D. Eisenhower. He was defeated for the presidency in 1960 by JOHN F. KENNEDY. White's book reaches its climax with the clash between JIMMY CARTER and RONALD REAGAN. White examines the long-term effects of the GREAT SOCIETY and the GREAT INFLATION. 465 pages, including Notes and an Index.
