Year of publication: 2012 ISBN: 978-5-93898-378-6 Pages: 400 Illustrations: 116 Print run: 1100 copies. Out of print ABOUT THE BOOK Comments: L. M. Lotman, E. I. Kiyko, L. V. Krestovf Article: A. D. Borovsky Illustrations: D. B. Borovsky The book includes three lyrical stories by Ivan S. Turgenev, united by the theme of love and memories of youth. "Asya" (1857) reflected deeply personal experiences of the author and his reflections on his personal fate and the fate of his generation. In the story "First Love" (1860) reflected Turgenev's impressions of his own first infatuation. It is this work forever remained his favorite child. In the story "Spring Waters" (1871) again collide psychological and social, ideal love and ruinous, destructive passion. The stories are provided with a commentary detailing the history of their creation and the facts of the author's biography, which formed the basis of the plot lines and images of the characters, as well as page notes. The illustrations for all three works were created by David Borisovich Borovsky (1926-2004). An article written by his son, art historian A.D. Borovsky, specially for this edition, is devoted to the work of this famous St. Petersburg graphic artist and painter. ABOUT THE ARTIST David Borisovich Borovsky was a versatile artist, but he left the most grateful memory with his illustrations of Russian classics. Several generations were brought up on children's books by Kuprin, Garin-Mikhailovsky, Korolenko and Chekhov with his drawings. The appearance of his illustrations to the works of Goncharov and especially to the works of Turgenev since the early 1950s was perceived by the audience as an event.
