Franklin Library leather spine edition of Moliere's "Comedies," a Limited edition, Translated by Donald M. Frame, Illustrated with Wood-Engraved illustrations after Tony Johannot, one of the OXFORD LIBRARY OF THE WORLD'S GREAT BOOKS series, published in 1985. Bound in brown leather on the spine, the book has marbled paper end leaves, acid-free paper, Symth-sewn binding, a satin book marker, hubbed spine, gold gilding on three edges---in near FINE condition---except for 'tiny' imperfection to top gilt---mentioned for accuracy. Moliere, the named assumed by Jean Baptiste Poquelin, lived from 1622-1673. "Seven Plays" include: "The School for Husbands," "The School for Wives," "The Misanthrope," "Tartuffe Or, the Imposter," "The Miser," "The Would-Be Gentleman," and "The Imaginary Invalid." Moliere introduced ridicule of actual French society, with it various types of folly, oddity, pedantry and vice. "Tartuffe" was the most banned play of the 17th century and the all-time most popular play in France. 503 pages. I offer Combined shipping.
