Description
Franklin Library leather edition of Graham Greene's "This Gun for Hire, The Confidential Agent, and The Ministry of Fear," a Limited edition, illustrated by Dennis Lizak, Frontispiece portrait of Graham Greene, one of the COLLECTED STORIES OF THE WORLD'S GREATEST WRITERS series, published in 1978. Bound in gray leather, the book has matching French moire silk end leaves, acid-free paper, Symth-sewn binding, a satin book marker, hubbed spine, and gold gilding on three edges---in Very Good/near FINE condition---except for 'moderate' imperfection to top gilt. Graham Greene was born in 1904 in Berkhampsted, England, the son of a school headmaster. He graduated from OXFORD, and settled into journalism. Greene was 6 3" tall, lanky and frail with arresting blue eye and a thick hairy chest. At age 26, he became a Catholic and married Vivien. Written earlier in his career, these volumes are set in LONDON between 1930 and 1945, years of uncertain peace, mounting premonition, and finally, the horrors of the German blitz. With fast-paced action, the terror of pursuer and pursued, unforgettable characters in authentically seedy settings---the novels are nail biters. 722 pages. I offer Combined shipping.
