Tikhomirov Illustrations: B. L. Nepomnyashchiy "Notes from the Dead House" (1860-1862) - one of the most significant and peculiar works of Russian literature of the 1860s and at the same time one of the peaks of the creative heritage of F. M. Dostoevsky. It reflects the author's impressions of what he experienced and saw in Siberia, in the Omsk stockade, where he spent four years, convicted in the Petrashevsky case. This unique literary document, the genre nature of which is often characterized as "artistic memoirs", contains stories about the fates of real prisoners whom the writer met at the penal colony. At the same time, it is a work of fiction, the most important philosophical issues of which are set in the extended metaphors of the Dead House and resurrection. The book is accompanied by an article and notes by B.N.Tikhomirov, written especially for this edition. Also for the first time a series of illustrations created by the remarkable graphic artist, corresponding member of the Russian Academy of Arts B.L.Nepomnyashchy is published. ABOUT THE ARTIST Boris Nepomnyashchy was born on August 18, 1945 in Kiev. In 1961-1966 he studied at the Odessa Art School named after M.B. Grekov, in 1966-1971 - at the Leningrad Higher Art and Industrial School named after V.I. Mukhina. In 1975 he was admitted to the Union of Artists of the USSR.
