Ralph Waldo Emerson ESSAYS: First and Second Series, and NATURE London: J.M. Dent & Sons, 1910. Leather. 2 vols. 288p; 279p. A set of two small hardcover books bound in full blue leather with gilt-decorated spines. Features gilt foredges and marbled endpapers with gilt dentelles. Near-fine condition, with the spines lightly rubbed, but the text unmarked and bindings tight. Clean and attractive volumes, presented here in a marbled slipcase, which is scuffed at the corners but still sturdy. Item #177064 Volume I is a 1910 printing, and volume II is a 1905 printing. Measures approx. 6.2" x 4" in the slipcase.

Very well packaged. Better than some other sellers that just ship books in a Manila padded envelope. This seller had wrapped it in bubble wrap then placed in a box full of packed paper. Because of this extra careful attention the 139 year old book made it safe to its new forever home. The book arrived on time. As described. Great value for a book this old. The stain on front cover is exactly as described. I would prefer it to not have the stain but it definitely adds character.
