Zworykin The present edition publishes an early edition of the drama by autograph, by A. С. Pushkin in his exile in Mikhailov, entitled "The Comedy about Tsar Boris and Grishka Otrepiev" (1825). The appendix contains detailed comments by leading researchers of Pushkin's work, written especially for this edition. For the first time after 1927, the book reproduces a cycle of illustrations by B. V. Zworykin (1872-1942), made by the artist for the French publishing house "H. Piazza" and recognized by the French publishing house. Piazza" and recognized as an outstanding achievement of book graphics. A detailed biographical sketch about B. V. Zworykin is also given. ABOUT THE ARTIST The name of Boris Zworykin, one of the founders of the "Russian style" in book illustration and, perhaps, the best graphic ornamentalist of the early twentieth century, for several decades has been in oblivion. Until recently, the original work of this artist could be appreciated only by a few connoisseurs-collectors - happy owners of rare and expensive editions published in pre-revolutionary Moscow and in emigrant Paris. FROM THE EDITORS This edition reproduces in full the cycle of illustrations by Boris Zworykin for the edition of the prose French translation of "Boris Godunov" published in Paris in 1927. Combining the Russian text of Pushkin's drama with Boris Zworykin's book design is not an easy task. Thus, in the 1927 Paris edition, five ornamental schmutztitulas created by the artist divide the text completely arbitrarily, creating the false impression that Pushkin's play consists of acts or acts with corresponding titles.
