This work was originally published in 1842, as a celebration of country life and field sports, with many anecdotes from the popular sporting author. Illustrated with thirty-six colour plates by Henry Alken. Charles James Apperley (1777-1843) contributed a series of articles to The Sporting Magazine , covering horse races, hunt meets and other sporting events. CONDITION In a half calf binding. Externally, smart and bright except for fading to the spine and a little rubbing to the upper corner of the front board. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright with the odd spot throughout. Spotting to the fore edge.
