The complete Waverley Novels, a series of novels originally released between 1814 and 1832, often called his 'Magnum Opus' with Scott providing each novel with an introduction and notes. The historical novels played a significant part in the movement in readdressing the public perception of the Scottish Highlands and its culture, which had formerly been viewed by the South as a barbaric area of hill bandits, religious fanaticism, and Jacobite risings. Influenced by the eighteenth century Enlightenment, Scott believed in tolerance regardless of class, religion, politics, or ancestry, which is a consistent theme across the novels and in much of the original verse they contain. Written by Sir Walter Scott, a British historian, novelist, poet, and playwright whose works remain classics of European and Scottish literature. This set includes: Waverley. Illustrated with a frontispiece, vignette title page, and nine plates. Guy Mannering. Illustrated with a frontispiece, vignette title page, and seven plates. The Antiquary. Very speedy delivery and extremely well packaged. The book is in wonderful condition for age, better I think than described. This now sits alongside a companion volume, another work of Worcestershire historian and antiquarian, John Noak. I very much looking forward to reading it. As for price, I snatched the offer and am extremely pleased that I did. This seller is a perfect find on eBay and I would purchase from them without hesitation, saved seller, excellent.

The packaging was both robust and thoughtful, which always makes a most distinct difference. I am grateful for this great value and for your having accepted my offer. Thank you so much, Katherine, for a truly pluperfect transaction.
