You are bidding on a rare antique hardcover book titled A Sketch of the Denominations of the Christian World; Accompanied with a Persuasive to Religious Moderation. To Which is Prefixed an Account of Atheism, Deism, Theophilanthropism, Judaism, Mahometanism and Christianity. By John Evans, who was a Welsh Baptist minister. Corrected and Enlarged with a Chronological Table of the Leading Events of Ecclesiastical History, from the birth of Christ down to the present time. This is a very rare publishing from Burlington, New Jersey by Stephen C. Ustick, from 1812. Of note, there is a list of Subscribers at the end of the book that may be helpful to geneaologists. Most of the subscribers are broken out by county in Southern New Jersey. Imagine, this book is over 200 years old!!! Details: Condition / Notes: This antique volume is bound in full leather, with a red spine label and gilt lettering and decoration to the spine. The volume displays rubbing and scuffing to the exterior. The binding is sound. A small bookplate is present on the front paste-down, and a previous owner's signature appears on one of the blank preliminaries. The endpapers of this volume are foxed. An engraved frontispiece is present, which is comprised of oval portraits of Arminius, Wickliffe, Luther, Penn, Calvin, Baxter, Winchester, Whitfield and Wesley. Pencil annotations are present on the frontispiece, noting birth years and ages of the men depicted. The interior of this volume is lightly toned, with scattered foxing throughout, but is free of markings. A terrific addition to any collection! Great gift idea!
